Swiss 3 pin plug in a UK socket

Hello,

I have bought a coffee machine which has a 3 pin swiss plug. I have been looking for an adaptor to plug it into my uk plug socket but can't find one.

Is it possible to rewire the plug into a uk plug or would this be a bad idea? Alternatively, does anyone know where I might find an adaptor. I have a 'Swiss World Travel Adaptor' but this doesn't seem to fit.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Swiss mains voltage is 220/240v - so it would be possible to re-wire the plug.
Swisss mains frequency is listed as 50/60HZ so I dont know what effect it will have on the machine - just better to buy a cheap one from Argos.

Agree with Woodchopper - safest to change the plug. I wonder where you bought such a thing - as far as I know it is illegal to sell a new electrical appliance into the UK unless it is fitted with the correct (13A-style) square pinned plug.

Cut off the plug if its a moulded on type.Note colour coding,ie which colours go to earth,neutral & live.Carefully connect to UK 13amp plug.Unless you are ever likely to use it in Switzerland,an adaptor is a bad idea
