Anyone recognise this Lake District Fell summit? It's the summit the photo is taken on that is needed, not the one accross the valley or in the distance.

Contest is Cumbria & Lakeland Walker magazine's 'Peaky Finder competition that ends 27 December.

Any help appreciated! Apologies that the image is a little out of focus!

Hi John

In the photo in the link I'm pretty sure the view is of Sca Fell because of the distinctive crater. From the snowy peak and the proximity I think the photo was taken from the top of Scafell Pike.

Thanks Ludocruz for your help.

I now believe the prominent mountain (with the scar) in the middle distance is Great Gable. The smaller 'triangular' peak behind it is Green Gable.

That's means that the peak that the photograph was taken from (where the photographer was standing), must be either Great End or Broad Crag.

From the angle the picture was taken from that scar, and to be able to see Green Gable and Windy Gap. Then I believe the angle is not right if this view was seen from Lingmell, Scafell Pike or Ill Crag etc. But the view looks possible (and I found similar views on images online) from Great End, although I can't as yet discount Broad Crag - I'm leaning in the direction of the picture being taken on the boulder field around the summit area of Great End.

But I'm hoping someone might clarify or point in the right direction.

Thanks
