Does Jsa Give You Money When You're About To Start Work?

I'm soon starting a temp position (YAY!) Until the end of the year so will inform the Jsa this week.

I'll need some money to help me with travel/food etc until I get paid so they help me with money until I get paid seeing that payment is at the end of the month or am I left to fend for myself?

I'm pretty sure you don't. Most people have to work a month before they get paid. The best that can be expected is some sort of loan but I don't think the DWP offers that now. I think that delaying telling DWP for a few weeks is a risky strategy.

I really need the money but am a real I'm really bad luck ridden and the moment I done something like that I'd no doubt have the flying squad kicking off my doors at 3 am to haul me off to court and prison for benefit fraud/deception and theft!

I might not be the prettiest girl on the block but I am too pretty for prison. ( And a soft scaredycat)

That's a good link, Mamyalynne. I was thinking in terms of CB based JSA only as that's the only thing I have experienced but there could still be income related benefits due

I was on is a and worked as an invigilator in school exams. When I declared this to office they said my jsa would reduce or stop when I got paid, since the work was sporadic didn't claim for three months yet cotinued to get paid j s a . Which means that you continue toget aloowance until your pay is paid out.

I understand your case, kuulteach, if you had no work at the time but I don't think it applies in henrietta's case. Surely you only get JSA when you are seeking work. I can't see how someone could still come in to sign on if they have started a job.

I went from ESA to work and it stopped the second I started work again even though I wasn't going to be paid for a month and not only that, they forced me at short notice to leave my new employment on my first day for several hours to fill in some paperwork at their office miles across town.
Really helpful...not.

They will help with two weeks of travel allowance as long as you provide train/bus tickets as proof. Your JSA stops as soon as you start work though.
