Is This Normal Behaviour From Tv Licensing?
I cancelled my DD with them two days ago and today I received a snotty email asking me to set up another DD straight away or risk having my licence revoked, and my details given to a Debt Collection agency.
My licence does not run out until Jan. 31st 2022.
Is this how they go about their business?

TV Licencing can be a pain in the armpit. A couple of years ago, I was one day late in paying. OK, it was a day late but they pursued me for 6 weeks and threatened me with prosecution, despite proof that I had paid. In the end, they blamed me because they said I hadn't read the numbers off my card clearly enough on the auto payment line. I pointed out that the fee had left...

If you arent in debt - then you arent in debt ( make sure ) so you can ignore - oh if they do - allege maladministration ( data protection ) because they are using your data outside the obvious remit
( no debt)
you could write to them and say that ( dont bother to phone) but the script has to be more formal Dear Sir, la-dee-dah, - and less - "yeah foo mate what dis all about den?"

You need to be careful.

"What dis all about den" is that TV Licencing operate a very strange DD setup. You pay for your annual licence by means of six instalments before it expires and six after it expires. This means that your previous licence which expired in Jan 21 was paid for by six payments before then (say Jul 20 to Dec 20) and six payments afterwards (say Jan 21 to Jun 21). This means you have only just begun to pay for your licence which expires next year although you have benefitted from it for half the year (in fact, depending on the exact dates, you may not have paid anything at all towards it yet).
