death threat!?!?

I recently received an e-mail from somebody saying "i'm a dead man" and i should "sleep with one eye open"... They sent another e-mail a few days after saying "there may be trouble ahead"..
In the eyes of the law, are these death threats???
If so would there be any point in contacting the police??
p.s I have the authers e-mail address and full name.

The e-mails being sent to me are from somebody who got my details from the list.
I dont want too fight violence with violence but would the police do ANYTHING???? I doubt it!!!!

Even if they just record the incident and do nowt, you'll have that as a back up if (God forbid) anything does happen to you.

It is illegal to send death threats no matter what form they are sent in. Phone the police, just in case.

I just thought that I'd reserve my sympathy for someone whose name is accidently on the list rather than for someone who has obvious leanings towards a party with a history of violence and intimidation itself............

I agree that he ought to log all instances of threats and tell the Police.

I expect that the police have had quite a few people informing them that they have had death threats since this list was published. They should know what to do in your circumstance, but you must report it ,just in case (I hope it doesn't) something happens to you.

The BNP said the majority of people named on the list are members but claimed a number of individuals who were not members also seemed to have been added

a well known person who lives not far from me is on that list he has never been a member he is seeking legal action
against the bnp or the person who put out the list.

yes, death threats are illegal, by email or pigeon post or whatever; yes, tell the police and show them the emails. It's possible the sender is not using his own name, but these are often traceable.
