It was nice to help neighbours out, both digging paths and running errands for them - even more than we normally did.
Mum worried about Dad a lot as he was a Postman on the walks and he did the farms and smallholdings up on the moors, but he always made it back with a rosy glow from a few friendly warming snifters.

ummm where I lived at the time (Battersea) still has local shops pretty much where they were...no butchers or fishmongers now but still corner type shops...actually where I live now (and have lived for around 30 years) while the shops have changed, there are still local corner shops pretty much where they were when we moved in...and also new small tesco and sainsburys have taken over two local closed pub sites.
