Jed killed the vicar after he made enquiries into his background after jewellery is going missing at the care home where he lived for a while. He wrangled his way to living with Rose and daughter after seeing a death of one of the care tenants, saying it reminded him of his dead Nan. Jed finally slept with Rose and she realising a great mistake orders him to leave, but he doesn't, turning violent, slapping Rose down to the ground. Rose bundles daughter off to her Nan's for safety.

No, the priest did not die. He was there in the last scene when they were planting a tree in memory of Rosies son who died.

In the end it was all a tad boring and predictable and it was hard to know who to root for. The five main characters - i include the priest - had not one redeeming feature between them. Daddy was an adulterer, mummy was a cradle snatcher, daughter was a spoiled brat, weirdo stranger was a psycho and the priest acted as if he were God almighty. Even Gran was a tad strange. Would have been a more fitting finale had they all self-combusted, or something.
