That has gotr to be the easiest final question in history, .....for £96k!
What is Jupiter's great red spot?
Crater, moon, sea, storm!
Perlease my 6 old grandson would get that!
I have very little interest in astronomy TTT. I hope I have an intelligent general knowledge. No, I did not know that Jupiter is a 'Gas giant' - why should I? I know it is huge, I know its position in our solar system, I know Holst and quite a lot of literary stuff about it. I could work out that it had to be a storm, I didn't have to know it.
There's absolutely nothing in the main National Curriculum that covers the characteristics of the planets within our solar system. Even students who opt to take Physics as one of their GCSE subject won't encounter such information. (Space physics, such as that relating to red shifts or geostationary satellites is included, but planetary information isn't). It's only the very small number of students who opt for GCSE Astronomy (which is only taught in a tiny minority of schools) who would learn about Jupiter's great red spot.
The answers are only obvious if you know the answers or have second sight. I have a fairly broad general knowledge but put my hands up to the fact I don't know half of it, if that much
