I hardly ever watch telly. (As far as I can recall, the half hour I watched tonight was the first time I've turned my telly on for over a month).
However I've long been a fan of Youtube clips of The Voice Kids from countries across the world, so I thought that I ought to take a look at the UK version now that the the show has finally arrived here. I was expecting to find our version either full of sentimental twaddle or American razzmatazz but I found that it stuck true to the format of the show in other countries and I found myself enjoying it. (More importantly, all of the performers seemed to really enjoy it, irrespective of whether the coaches turned or not).
Did anyone else see it? What are your thoughts?
For me though, none of the kids tonight were as good as this young lad in the Ukrainian version. (Use the slider to start the video at 1:32 if you only want the performance):
A footnote:
The Ukrainian lad is singing in Italian and the Russian girl is singing in Spanish. I wonder if any of the UK contestants will be able to sing as well in foreign languages?
Back in my day (when I had a pet dinosaur) we always sang Christmas carols at school in Latin, German or Spanish. That probably explains why I hardly know any English ones!
the last wee lad was good..the rest ...pretty average ..thought there was much patronising and false praise from the judges..tell it how it is...just 'cos they are kids don't be so fake !!
^^^ The winner gets £30,000 towards their musical education and their family gets a VIP holiday to Disneyland Paris. If anything other happens that entirely down to record companies, etc. (For example, when 12yo Ronan Parke was runner-up in Britain's Got Talent, Sony signed him up to make a CD)
