I am currently involved with a Local Quiz where the Questions or Answers are associated with Music. Doing quite well, but have now got to the stage where I need some of your help, so if there is anyone out there, please put your thinking caps on and help me out. T.I.A. There are no numbers given for the words just letters. Some are straightforward, others slightly cryptic.

b) L.M. Non-singing actor who had a No. 1 single hit
c) E.P. Played title role in a film musical without singing
d) B. This 8 film character was not a composer
e) L.G. Comedian who adopted the name of musical film star. (Leo Gorcey or Larry Grayson by any chance)
f) H.t.H.N. Great success.
g) F.t.D. Join the Army
h) B.y.o.D. Self Praise
i) B.o.T. Self Praise

Thanks for answers so far. Pixie374 - I had pencilled in Beethoven, but I think there were only three films, so don't know. Can't come up with anything else so far.

Have found the answer to a) Daniel Laidlaw, a piper killed in 1915. Awarded the Vctoria cross.

j) the last one I asked, I have come up with 'Hit a sour Note' (an English idiom, so sound good)
