i'm due to renew my car insurance in a couple of weeks,in december last year i had an accident,no-one was hurt but quite a lot of damage was sustained to my car and the other person's car needed quite a bit of work on it too.i was deemed "at fault".
my current insurance company would want double the price to renew my policy and, after trawling through several price comparison sites the cheapest deal i could find for comprehensive cover was around£900.(the worst quote i got was over £2,000!!)
it's already really difficult to keep running a car,but,£900.is more than i can afford to pay.
does anyone out there have any ideas/tips on how i could get a cheaper quote?
i'd be really grateful for any help.
thanks in advance.
Any insurer will need you to admit having had a claim so you will have to be honest. You could always apply for an Advanced driving course, most insurers will give a discount if you are an advanced driver..Don't know how much a course would be but may be worth enquiring.
Some insurers will allow you to pay monthly by direct debit. May be a bit more over the year but could be easier making the payments when spread over a year.
had a ding in my car end of last year, the quote for renewal this year was more than double, used a broker and got £200 cheaper plus £40 cash back, well worth shopping around. When the company rang to ask why i had not renewed i told them, they said that i could have got a cheaper quote from them (£150 less than original quote) told them to stick it.
