Suggestions please on the cheapest way to get cover for my son who is 17 and about to take his driving test.At the moment the quotes are around �1500,which seems a huge amount of money.

what car are you trying to insure him on? this makes a massive difference in pricing , also may be worth waiting until after his test as this will help with the premium cost, is he in a position to take the advance drivers course this will also bring premium down,? lastly put car in parents name and name your son as a named driver, really is a case of just shopping around, for obvious reasons the make of car is important,to the costs of the insurance , TRY to get him to have a small engine sized car non modified and build up the no claim bonus, best of luck
Hi, My learner driver son (17) is insured as a second driver on his step grandma's insurance (67, retired, living rurally, car kept in a locked garage etc, 2 years no claims) for a Fiesta 1.4 ghia L reg and is paying �495 per annum and is with Provident via a telephone call to Norton.Hope this helps.
