Due To The Recent Heavy Rain Garden Has Developed A Small Pool
I appreciate that this is quite trivial in comparison to other peoples rain problems but...….. Our garden gradually slopes away from the bungalow and when we have heavy rain it collects in one corner which is some 3.5 mt distance from the bungalow. This not a new problem its been like this at other times but I don't recall so much rain. At the moment the "pool" is about 60mm deep. As it fills the corner, water gradually spreads out across width of the garden and in the "water corner" it approaches the home. I think the land outside of our garden, which is golf course land with tall trees on it, is slightly higher and banked towards our garden thus the water just pools there. Question how can I control the water? Putting in drains is not possible. I wondered if I raised the level across the back, filling it with soil and turf where would the water go then; would I make it worse?

If you raised the level of the soil the water would still be there but under the surface. I'd guess that depending of what you used it may become boggy or remain firm. If firm perhaps it'd encourage the golf course side to retain its own rainfall but you'd have to try it to see.

Some ideas on construction, you just need the soak away part in the corner of your garden, however if water is pooling there, suggests you may be on a clay based soil. If this is the case soak away will not be very efficient, nor will be if you have a high water table. I am gradually talking myself out of my previous advice of installing a soak away without you first getting some professional advice.

Thanks for all your comments.
We have been here for over 30 years, In that time in the corner where the water pools we had some paving put down. My wife reminds me that the reason we had that done was it was always "wet" in that corner. Apparently the builder told her there was clay there.
From the comments made, I have now two options.
1. Find someone who can advise me professionally. 2. Endeavour to speak to the ground staff at the golf club to see if they can help. Unfortunately this is the weaker plan as in the past they don't want to know about anything if there is a chance it might cost them money.
