Any recommendations for buying an external hard drive, price, value for money ....... I want to use it as a back up for music, photos, etc. I leave it to the experts on here. May I say that I don't know what I'd do without you other Answerbank members, you are all so very helpful and knowledgeable, thankyou one and all. :)

You could consider a 64GB memory stick – which might meet your needs as a cheaper option.
Let’s say your photos are 10MB per photo – such a device could store 6,400 photos (equivalent to over 175 rolls of 36 exposure film).

Typically 1 hour of MP3 file will be circa 170MB (depending on compression/bit rate); so such a drive would store around 375 hours of MP3 music.
You could always buy another memory stick once you get close to running out of memory - Just something to consider.
