hi vinrex--thanks for ur reply--took ur advice and downloaded and installed bitlord--couldn't even get that started--same forbidden message--guess it must be something elase that is blocking it--i have a back-up pc so will try it on that and see what happens--will let u know
Question Author
hi vinrex--well i have tried bitcomet on my back-up pc and it works fine--so far have not tried bitlord--which actually looks like an identical prog to bit comet--anyway i have no reason to believe it wouldn't work too on my back-up--so, since the computers are networked thru a router which has a built in firewall it can't be that or the isp or the sites so that just leaves a fault in my os on the main pc--will investigate further--have done spyware adware virus scans etc and windows firewall is OFF but nothing showing up--restore is not an option cos for a different reason i turned off restore yesterday so only have yesterday's restore point when i turned it back on--the problem was there b4 that anyway--stay tuned for the next installment
Hope it works out for you, computers are very strange things. sometimes they just wont do something, then without changing anything, they do what you wanted in the first place. good luck

well vinrex--after some hours i have been unable to trace the source of my problem--actually i have been having an increasing number of problems over the past couple of weeks--the machine is now 3yrs old and i have had no major problems--having a 300gig external hdd i copied everything i needed from c drive then did a complete recovery--only major thing i had to reinstall was my printer--the rest all small progs like avg, spybot etc etc--re-configured my router and i am now back to where the machine was when i bought it with all my data and progs on the external hdd--everything works--thanks for ur help--cheers--arthur
