For the first time...

In I don't know how long I am hearing church bells.
A lovely sunny summers evening and I can hear them in the distance. It sounds just beautiful.
Long the summer evening,
A gentle summer breeze,
The sound of church bells ringing,
Puts me at my ease.
Birds sing out their twilight song,
And carried on the air,
The scent of summers long since past,
Those times without a care.
Sorry I went all lyrical there.
It must be my age.

Floating in the breeze
My bell is chiming like a gong
My mind is not at ease
The campanologists delight
In tugging on their ropes
They pull and pull and puff and pant
I wonder which one can count
For as I listen and dream of silence
My hand is pulling in time
A testament and one of faith
To their rhythmic chirpy chime
End of chorus, end of verse
Blindness could be my curse
I look forward to the weekend
To play once again on my bell

Yes, listen away and enjoy. It was a part of my wonderful childhood too. I have to be grateful however that truth is taking over, that grubby blood-stained muslims shrieking and waving severed body parts can remind me that when Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life" that it was just a huge leg-pull.
