many moons ago my pa had an admirable tenor voice and every morning regularly sang a ballad of the day such as trumpeter, rose of tralee english rose etc . i have been trying to find a ballad he sang from google without success.the words go thus " I have come from the silent forest , my beautiful lotus flower, and i stand in thy garden sighing it is the lover`s hour, thy sisters the lotus blossoms they ope to the moon above, open thy window beloved and let me tell my love, let me tell my love" and so it goes on. it reminds me of the indian love lyrics but cannot find. Anyone got any advice
Put "I have come from the silent forest" into Google, it'll give you a link to a forum onemanfrombarlick - there is a posting there saying it's a Victorian song called Nirvana by Stephen Adams. Not familiar with it myself, tho my grandma used to sing lots of old songs like "Look over the garden wall, Kate"!
thanks you guys i should have the answer. "tis a lovely ballad sung beautifully by webster booth . i always admired him for his singing voice but felt he could have had a nasal reduction. these days i suppose he could have had surgery.!
