Why does the BBC feel the need to inflict Tim Henman on us, the licence paying public?

What exactly qualifies him to voice his opinion on tennis players who are better than he could ever have dreamed to be?

He never made a Grand Slam final, could only manage two semis away from the grass and couldn't even get past the 4th round in Australia. A diabolical record for someone who won over $10million and was the best player this country could produce for such a long time. He epitomises the pathetic state of tennis in the UK. And some clown gave him an OBE?!

I'm just thankful that we no longer have to endure that pathetic, limp-wristed fist shake.

While he never reached "the top" he did reach 6 Grand slam semi-finals, and at one time was 4th in the world.

I wonder how many grand slam semi finals you got to?

I consider Murray as being better than Henman, but a Grand Slam Winner? Never.

Never liked Tim, but he's not that bad as a commentator, unlike the other British ex-player.

Still, spoot on about that effete limp-wristed clench of the fist when he won a point.

If the people of this country actually played the sport instead of just showing interest for one month of the year we might consistently produce some top players.

It is still perceived, rightly or wrongly, as an elitist sport and far from all have access to courts and equipment.

True dancer, there isn't enough tennis in schools or availability to the less well off. With the huge amounts of money that the lta receive they should be doing more. Having said that I still think that as a nation we are just not that bothered about tennis.

Well - I would sooner have Tim Henman than John McEnroe who is regularly on the box.

John McEnroe may have undergone a mouth makeover, but he was a brat on the court and Wimbledon officials just looked the other way. I also saw him at Queens Club umpteen years ago, and his foul-mouthed antics just spoilt the match for me. Later that evening he had a rant at us spectators saying how ignorant we were!

So, where possible I try to avoid having to listen to him - that is until he personally apologises to me. What's the chance of that I wonder!
