His supporters are a disgrace, but the guy himself is worth a fortune to gamblers, being an absolute cert not to win Wimbledon. Well, so at least history tells us.

The only people who do not support Tim Henman are insane, evil, illogical, disordered, deranged, and mad.  He is the most gorgeous tennis player in the world, and is therefore the best tennis player in the world.  The only reason that he has never won Wimbledon is because of the blatant cheating of his opponents who dare to win games against him, and because of the corrupt officials and umpires who allow such cheating to take place.  Anybody who does not support Henman should be cut in half with a scythe, shave their innards filled with treacle, and then be stitched togather again so that the two halves are back-to-front with each other.

If ONE MORE PERSON says Tim Henman is cr@p at tennis!!!  AAAARGH!!!!  Only professional tennis players should be allowed to make such comments.  It's like the pie eating lager drinking fat b@stards who sit their fat @rses in the pub all weekend and sl@g off premiership footballers, when they haven't even SEEN their foot OR their balls for 10 years because their beer bellies are in the way. 

If you can't beat em, join em!  Just because Tim hasn't won Wimbledon doesn't make him cr@p.  Yes, his game standard is going down, but he's still bloomin good at tennis.  And I think it's a mean attitude to tell people that if they're not the best they should quit.  I hope that sort of advice isn't given to children.

Well said, acw - it's the British disease, I'm afraid. Build someone up and up in the media to make them sound like gods, then rubbish them when they fail to reach those heights. I know I wouldn't fancy my chances against Henman even if I was given a head start of two sets and a 4-0 lead in the third.

I have nothing against Tim Henman at all. He's only trying to win tennis matches and the media hype is hardly his fault. He was, after all, the first half decent British tennis player for many years.

Henman fans on the other hand are a waste of oxygen - mostly middle-aged women killing time until the next Daniel O'Donnell tour comes to town, draped in Union flag clothing, thinking they look "charmingly eccentric". Or middle-class laddish types thinking they're being "ironic". Wrong on both counts!

It's all to do with what this country expects to get from its VERY highly paid 'sportsmen'. I know a number of people who play semi professional tennis, who would probably give Henman a good run for his money, but they aren't Multi Millionaires. No one here has said he is cr@p (he would certainly take me to the cleaners), but we are comparing him to low seeded players whose earnings are a fraction of his.
This is precisely the reason that fat b@stards slag off football players. When you see 11 (rich beyond our wildest dreams) England players struggling to beat a team of Albanian goat herders who play for pride alone, you see their point.
If you cannot justify your exorbitant earnings, people get angry.

thank god, i thought i was the only one. i don't support him playing tennis  - not cos i don't think he's any good (i never watch tennis really), but because i have always disliked him. I don't know why, but i just don't think he looks like a nice person

Considering he recently blamed Wimbledon for opening the cans of balls too many days in advance (what so his opponents play with different ones?) and has criticised the tennis courts, I'm surprised he didn't put his defeat down to the wrong type of sunshine......

great answer acw .......Tim has done so well for Britain but as usual the brits like to slag people off ...........Who else has achieved what he has for british tennis in the last 10 years. Dont yet go onto Murray just because hes won two games at wimbledon. Give the boy a chance like you never did Tim !! Tim is not average . Average players are not in the top 300 let alone top 10 where Tim has been for so many years. Also cider monkey I wouldnt judge a book by its cover if i were you . Ive met Tim and hes so so nice. He also runs a charity for kids and gives thousands each year and a lot of his time to raise money for the deprived children around the world. I think thats quite nice dont you ? !!!
