Galloway is on planet Galloway. A complete irrelevance to anything sensible. I hope Mr McGuinness's death will spur the politicians on to agreement in the current difficult circumstances. In the end he was a major figure in the peace process and his death is a sad event. He proved that people can change for the better.

Well said Allen.

But I suspect that the Usual Suspects have not risen yet !
He was a terrorist with the blood of children on his hands.

Hard to be sorry for the death of such a man.

A swivel eyed uneducated deplorable ghastly UKIP sympathizing racist xenophobic troll and usual suspect
I am certainly not sorry for his death. But to ignore his part in the peace process would be foolish. Without Mcguiness, we wouldn't have a peace process.
If the UK Government continue to ignore the devolved Governments, and take important steps about our future survival without consulting Northern Ireland, then even the most ardent Unionist may become their biggest critic.
There is a lot riding on Brexit and it has to work. If it doesn't, the fallout will be the destruction of a United Britain.
Unfortunately the people tasked with making Brexit work do not fill me with much confidence that they will succeed.
It might help though if a few well-healed remoaners stopped trying to stop Brexit continually.
// Without Mcguiness, we wouldn't have a peace process. //

Trimble probably deserves more of the credit for the Peace process. I imagine it was easy for McGuiness to stop murdering people. It was much more difficult for Trimble to sit down and make agreement with known terrorists.
I agree. Trimble seems to be the forgotten man.
McGuinness did a lot more though than just 'stop killing people'
I agree that Trimble is a 'forgotten man' of the process but he did after all win a Nobel Award. There were many others forgotten (Seamus Mallon anyone?) and never even known and some of those will no doubt have been influenced by the later Martin McGuinness.
Most people would agree that the devolved Northern Ireland Government has been a success, especially compared to what came before it.
And McGuiness and Adams have played a significant part in that success, so he should be rightly applauded for what he did in later life.
His earlier exploits are less commendable. Let's just say it was a life that finished more positively than it begun.
A sad few days for the city anyway what with the death on Saturday of Derry's football captain at 27
In a way he's lucky. If he'd fiddled a few quid as a benefits cheat rather than just arranging death and horror he'd never have been forgiven.

It's a funny old game.

Douglas he has not been forgiven but instead it was seen what he could do for his country!
Really Islay? Laughing it up with Ian Paisley and getting the monarch of the country he was a-murderin and bombing in to shake hands seems as close as not matter to forgiveness.

Anyway, he's dead and that's that.
Not so. You can work with someone while not forgiving them for past actions.
RIP Marty.
rip martin mcguiness
being bitter wont solve anything, move on.
i thought he looked ill when on tv the last time, can't say in all honesty that i will miss him, peace process or not, he had too much blood on his hands for me to worry.
He did his "deal" with the devil, and now the devil calls in the debt. Sickening to note that there are people fawning over this murderer, and the BBC leads the coterie to boot. One down..... more to go.
