Terribly sad situation.

This is sad beyond words.

As I have said previously - we can be detached because we are not involved, and the natural response is to wish for peace for the poor little soul, and everyone involved.

That said, if he was our child, we would have done exactly the same, and hung on to every scrap of hope, because to lose a child has to be the worst thing in the world, only made bearable by the knowledge that as a parent, you did everything you could.

You don't know that, DT any more than I know that had treatment started much earlier the outcome may have been different.

The parents will at least know that they did all they could......that's so much better than looking back and saying....what if we had done this?.......

Such a tragic case. I hope that Charlie's parent are consoled by the fact that they fought to the bitter end for their little boy.

So sad, what dignity this child had has gone in the international discussions around him where the focus was not on him but others with varying agendas, dreadful situation .

Very sad but I can't help thinking it was the parents that prolonged this not the hospitals.
As for Trump and the Pope they need to butt out!
May he now be allowed to rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear about this. I thought as parents they were incredibly brave and it is heartbreaking. I cant imagine what they are going through but I hope they will find peace in time.

It's horribly sad. I would have listened, Hopkirk, but then gone with my instincts, whichever way they went. It was actually a comment by my daughter today who said "his body has been trying to die. If they turn the machines off, he will still live if he's supposed to...". Just a tragic situation all round with no winners.

what are you going at me on, gness.....the hospital staff and the rest inc the parents have been subjected to a lot of on-line abuse. Fact according to the news channels.

The doctor looked at the poor babe, concluded that his latest MRIs shown he had gone too far. He has withdrawn. Fact.

No postulation from me about beginning earlier but that has been something that has been put forward.

absolutely pixie, where science and emotion come together and it can often be horrendous and not pretty to witness, never mind the antics of the outsiders as to the hospital staff, the lawyers and the family themselves.

It is very sad. But I wonder, how much has been donated now and what will they do with it ?

they are going to set up a fund in his name for the condition and research into it, Samurasian....that sounds very sensible and an excellent legacy.

It was the right decision. Heartbreaking for them and I also cried when I heard their pain and statement. What needs to be learnt is the need for speed in other cases. Surely it is not beyond the wit of man to devise a 'fast-track' route for purely medical court cases?
