Plenty of money for non life threatening like gender changes but none for the over 70's it seems.
Am I surprised - Nope.

Apparently the survival rate is about 15%. I remember very little about the incident but the bit that does stick in my mind was being asked "Do you mind if we cut your shirt off?". Would anybody say "No"?
This lady was referred to the hospital by her GP last April but they could not do it as a 'routine' operation because she was over 70. Her age (94) meant that she would need extra care. It could never have been done in 'ten minutes'.
She was put on the waiting list but died in May. Her operation was scheduled for June 13th so it is not the case that she was refused surgery because of her age.

NHS is a bit hit and miss though.
I was discharged from hospital because I kept leaving my bed (with help from my family) but I was told to drink as much fluids as I could so I went to the cafe or shop, not realising that they had NBM on the board behind me. I wasn't fed or given a drink for 5 days!!
Besides that....nursing staff were brilliant
