They will serve 18 years tops. Then they will still be relitivly young and go on to live their pointless lives and have every do gooder on the bloke helping them along.
This girls life is gone because of them. Her boyfriend has lost his love. Her parents their beautiful daughter.
Leave the little gits in a cell with one meal a day and nothing else.
Better still do to them what that Austrian rat did to his daughter.

Well until (if) harsher sentances are brought back, this is the best that can be done to these 'people'.

This terrible tragedy happened in the next town to mine and it's really affected the whole community.

I have seen loads just like them here where I live. Its sort of scary to think that they are our future.
But still there are teenagers out there who are nice, polite lovely younf people. Its just a shame morons like these are killing them off.

I wouldn't object if life meant life. Nonetheless, 18 years is a very long time. Just imagine everything you expect to do between now and 2026, and imagine you won't do any of it because you're behind bars. The time will not fly by.

That's already flown and she was only 20.
These thugs can breath, eat, drink, talk, watch TV etc and still have something to look forward to when they get out.

I think jno was just stating an alternative to capital punishment, and being as though we sadly don't have it now, life imprisonment's the only way - but it should MEAN life, with no remission or privileges. Might as well stop visits as well, and let everyone just forget about the scum.

the judge said that these sentences were meant as a punishment and not to rehabilitate, thats a start, but life should be just that, life.

These scum could be out in their early thirties, which means they can still have a pretty long life ahead of them unfortunately

It's the overcrowding I have to laugh at! I can think of a way to combat it (I've said it before). Take out...... desk, toilet, TV, gym, games room.

Put in two bunks per room! (more if you can squach em in!)

The judge should be sentenced for such leniant sentences! What the heck is he thinking of all of them plead guilty to GBH which led to the death of this young girl. His hands aren't tied by the goverment he is the judge, it's up to him what punishment scum like this recieve. I'm so sick of reading stories time and time again about people getting between 2&8 years for murder, what happened to a life for a life? This story really saddens me. Their poor families.

My nephew is in prison. He has been for about 4 years...well in saying that he served 2 years, got out went to bristol to start a new life, met the 'wrong' crowd in the hostel they put him in and he ended up back inside to finish his original sentence and they added on 2 more years. He's never harmed or killed anyone, he's just a pest who gets caught at everything he does. He's getting brought back up to Glasgow Barlinnie Prison next week as he doesn't like the one he is in. It doesn't have the same mod cons as Barlinne....I kid you not, that's what he told his mum...in Barlinnie he has his own cell, a ps2, telly and the rest. This is where the tax payers money goes!

It's a farce! My Father in-law's brother was in an open prison and he will openly admit how much of a breeze it was! He laughs about it and think the prison system is a joke himself! He had better accomodation than his own flat and was able to have day trips out to do xmas shopping and buy necessities!

All for the small price of beating someone with nuckle-dusters on! Not bad is it?

if us ordinary people can see the injustice of it all and have the answers to rectify it, ie life meaning life, hard labour, no mod cons, then why cant the politicians, that we put into power, not see it..... trouble is they are all scared of the pc, do gooder brigade. it needs a few people to stand in the next general elections and try and get elected on that premise, so come on, lets get this country back to real basics, bring back national service, 2 years from age 16 - 18 for all, flogging should be brought back, life means life, hard labour, working in the community, etc.

There is such a thing as a life sentence.

It's a "whole life tarriff"

If we had an automatic whole life tarrif or capital punishment there would be little deterrent to a killer committing further murders
