I just couldnt make this up if i tried ----imagine ---
sitting in a cafe today near a big store eating and drinking, an elderly couple walked in .
Imagine --fairly tall man, needing a shave and a wash ---cut down denim shorts ragged around the edges--wearing white plastic ladies strap sandals --- and black TIGHTS !!! he walked like an old man too, and seemed a nice enough ole boy while chatting with (maybe) wife. He was freaky, and never seen nothing like that before, lol it sure gave us a chuckle

My Grandmother had a caravan on Canvey Island for 25 years.
in fact her and her husband used to own large lumps of land on the island in the 1950's. Now sold and with a street of houses on it.
Anyway had many a happy six week school holiday on Canvey Island.
Nowt like crab fishing as a kid up the sea wall and catching toads in the lakes.
oh fond memories of Canvey.

My nan used to live in Benfleet( just across the creek from Canvey), and when I was a kid -many moons ago-I spent many happy days cockling in the muds of canvey creek. We used to get buckets of cockles, take them back to nans, wash, cook and eat them with loads of vinegar and pepper. Those were the days!!!!
