I suffer with back problems but my sister has advised me not to get one as I am always too hot in bed (I use a summer duvet the whole year round) and these matresses make you sweat even more.....

yes we have one and its FABULOUS. Ours is a tempur which was arm and a leg and a kidney time to buy but it has fixed my long term neck and shoulder problem (40+ years of pain) and also helped with my back problem. DH dislocated a collar bone some years ago and the mattress and pillow combination have resolved residual pain and stiffness from that.
Can't speak about other brands but I am female and at a certain age and could heat the whole of the UK at times, especially at night. I find the Tempur better than my old traditionally sprung mattress. It certainly isn't any more warming and the combination of the towelling type cover and the impermeable nature of the foam means that any perspiration gets wicked away and doesn't soak into the mattress as happened with the old traditional mattress....sorry if TMI :). I tried a mattress protector on the old mattress but the non permeable ones got sticky and unpleasant and the permeable ones got soggy and unpleasant...again sorry for TMI.
Tempur do a sixty day free trial but when we purchased, were not the cheapest place to buy from
