His duties do not include not fibbing now and then. He is obliged to choose ministers who can run their departments properly, and the occasional lapse - as in Boris's case - does not detract from the essential element of a Prime Minister's duty, which is to run the country properly.
Granted we don’t know all the ins and outs, but IF as has been suggested the fine wasfor an impromptu party he knew nothing about, and arranged by people he was working with, there was no booze involved, the party lasted for 10 mins, and the bloody cake never even made it from the Tupperware, then he should have refused to pay.
I fail to see any difference with nurses having a cup of tea and a slice of cake with people they work with.
Are they going to receive fines? If not, why not?

Sandra at 4.55pm.
Your point 2 - is it though? Really?
Your point 3 - that doesn't really stand up to much scrutiny.
I'm not being deliberately obtuse - I just genuinely don't see the difference.
It appears to me....
Nurses having a cup of tea at work and a slice of cake with people they work with - OK.
The PM having a cup of tea at work and a slice of cake with people he works with - Not OK.
I honestly don't get what he's done wrong IF what he's done is as reported.
I'm not a "fanboy", as Gromit oh so wittily (he thinks) keeps on saying, in fact, I'm far from a fan of Boris, but in this particular instance I just don't see what he's done wrong.
