Could You Sell Your Pet

This story made me feel sad, how can you claim to have a beloved pet and then sell it?

Baldric - you really mean that? I think that dogs and cats see the world, their humans and their territory differently so I can accept that with a fleabag cat leaving it behind might be a good idea. But I don't think that I could ever give them away. Throttle them perhaps, but never inflict them on others. Better go as Frankie wants his dinner and he wants it NOW!

IF they thought, genuinely thought, that the cat would be unhappy in a new home and would prefer to stay put then it is a sensible thing to do.
My two kitties and my previous furry friends mean way too much to me for me to give them away/sell them.
My two are, to me, not cats but friends (manipulators and bullies) with little furry coats.

I couldn't have done it, Marval......though cats sometimes are more attached to their surroundings than people.....I once had a cat come back to my cattery the day after the owners had collected it....I didn't charge it.....☺
The other side.....living in Calgary I had the most animal loving friend.... driving in the wilds she saw an empty house with a very neglected horse in the field.
She found out the owners had cleared off leaving the horse behind....she visited every day to look after it til she persuaded her husband they should buy the house.
I spent may happy days there with a variety of rescued animals....the pot bellied pig that got drunk while we were out one night.....and the duck that fell out of the sky and landed at her feet....and the cat that had its legs on back to front.....
Hmmmmm....wonder why she took me under her wing when I moved to Canada.....☺

I like this story. Puss gets to stay in his home with a new owner who clearly wants him very much, meanwhile a shelter pet gets a new home.
I'm not sure that I could've given up my much-loved puss, but I would hope that I could under those circumstances, as realistically, as long as her new human slave treated her right, I'm sure she would've been happy.
