Childrens' Xmas lectures
Am I alone in looking with anticipation at the annual Xmas lectures shown on TV? I always seem to gain further knowledge than I had previously. This years subject is Maths, my favourite topic, and I would suggest that anyone who hates the subject watches it. You may be hooked!

I've taken them to the last couple of years shows and they're really worth while. You can get tickets on-line at the Royal Institutions web site from about September. They usually sell out in a week or two so I write it on my calander.
Unfortunately this year they're refurbishing the Faraday Lecture theatre at the RI so it had to be held elsewhere - for only the second time in the 180 years that they've been held but it was still a great show.

I watched two of the programmes, and thought this year's presentation was poor - and the presenter got two of his basic facts wrong in one of the programmmes. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and put it down to the stress of being on TV.
Some of the kids in the seats behind him on the stage were obviously bored, and a couple of them seemed almost asleep.
I've definitely seen better in the past.
