I assume our gift has some kind of political benefit in terms of getting other countries to side with us on issues, as otherwise I don't see why we're doing it, but don't ask me how it works.

I watched a prog on the TV about a couple of weeks ago, where celebs were doling out mosquito nets in Uganda, on behalf of comic relief. They distributed over a million of the nets which cost £5-00 each.
It got me thinking about how long we have known about malaria being linked to the humble mozzy....at least 50yrs!
So, it's taken 50yrs for the Ugandan government not to take any action to stop the population dieing of malaria...it beggars belief!
I've come to the conclusion that the more we give to these 'basket case' countries, the more they will take, thus relieving them of any responsibility to their population as a whole.
