Yesterday (3rd Nov), we received our very first Christmas card of the year. When do you send your Christmas cards?

I don't see the point of wishing people "happy christmas" 2 months beforehand and so, like fakeplastic, send my cards out the week before xmas, and only to people I'm not going to see on the day. Mass-mailing seems an incredible waste of time, paper and money considering they all end up in the bucket a few days later.
woofgang - I love Christmas too, especally with the next generation around us. I love to see their little faces when they walk in & see the tree twinkling in the bay.
I usually send cards out around the 18th Dec.The tree & dec's go up around the 18th too. I must admit, I would much rather give the card & stamp money to a charity, but each year we get so many that it would seem a bit mean not to reply.
I usually get them out about 2 weeks before, but time and money restraints lead to less and less being sent. It's also nice that the whole russian side of the family practically don't know what cards are, we just give out phone calls instead. That way it seems a bit more sincere than "Sorry we can't see you this holiday season. We really do care, just not enought to bother calling you"
