"The Muslim world is all pomposity and bravado. If Islam is ridiculed publicly and systematically it will be defeated. Shame is a great motivator as well as a deterrent. Do not underestimate the power of ridicule."

HaHa....
There’s plenty more where that came from, Khandro, but beneath the humour of the video Ali Sina’s suggestion is valid. Muslims, many of whom know as well as we do that this is nonsense, demand our respect – and we are not only stupid enough to concede to their demands, we quite shamefully in my opinion, allow their faith schools to continue to teach the antiquated tenets of their book to their children.
Yes, it's easy to ridicule all religions- the bible for example- and we could try to defeat all of them. I assume neither of us is religious
fiction-factory, it isn't 'easy' to ridicule Islam. That has been proven to incur some very heavy penalties.
People have been taking the *** out of Christianity for years but it doesn't seem to have made much difference, so I am unsure if ridicule will work with Islam.
What difference would you like it to have made, Mikey?
Khandro's a brave man then Naomi even if he is just the messenger here.
fiction-factory, Do you disagree?
I guess that'll^ be a 'no' then.
To suggest that ridicule will prevent the rise of ISIS displays a profound lack of understanding. Ridicule will only serve to fuel their hatred of the West. Ask the employees of Charlie Hebdo.
//To suggest that ridicule will prevent the rise of ISIS ...//

That hasn't been suggested.
A more appropriate statement would be:

'Do not underestimate the power of European complacency'
Naomi....in the OP
'Do not underestimate the power of ridicule."

Or are we pretending this isn't about ISIS?
Zacs-Master, It's not about ISIS, it's about Islam.
Cross-posted. Nothing is being 'pretended'. This is about Islam.
Ah, fair enough.

Sorry, wasn't ignoring you Naomi- I have only just returned to the thread but it was good of you to try to answer for me. I couldn't have answered it myself as it isn't clear to me which point you are referring to.
fiction-factory , ok, I’ll make it clearer. Do you disagree that ridicule of Islam has been proven to incur some very heavy penalties?
Yes,a fatwah does not come from the 'fiction factory'..
