Defining British Culture
37 Answers
For years we have been told of the so called benefits of multiculturalism, and to repsect the culture of ethnic minorities.
I believe that our own British culture has been diluted and given second place to that of immigrants.
For fear of being called racist, many British cultural supporters keep quiet, particularly in the political arena, and ethnic minorities are the first apply the racist tag.
So, how would you define British culture, give some examples of it, and suggest ways to defend it against the tide of political correctness?

I can only assume that you both live on very run down inner city estates, where being white Christian is the minority. A consequence of this is that you have become quite frightened and experience a different world from the majority of the British people.
In affluent middle England, I can assure you the traditional British way of life flourishes

Christmas IS a Christian festival to celebrate the birth of Christ. It may be the wrong date but the thought is there.
Catholic and Christian are the synonimous, hence Anglo-Catholic. Read "The Creed".
Arabs were/are the most prolific slavers and they are Muslim.
All nations/religions hunt even Muslims
In my experience most religions accept and tolerate other faiths but , it seems Muslims will not do so and appear intent on converting all, with the Koran in one hand and a scimitar in the other.
I could go on but I suggest you do your homework.

British culture......tkka massala and chicken vindaloo are the most popular meals music of black origin absolutely dominating the top of the charts american film trouncing every aspect of british film yes i think we should get rid of em all. i love how you say the immigrants are taking over british culture -well which immigrants? they come from so many different countries which ones are you referring to?
It is sickening how British culture is being diluted.
Look at Strictly Come Dancing. Littered with Latin and South American dancing when we should be watching Kelly Brook and John Barnes morris-dancing or frollicking round a may pole.
Our national cuisine has been infected with things like chillis and passion fruit and pasta. I've seen people walk past a fish and chip shop near our pub in favour of a curry house. Eating curry! In Britain! Can you imagine?
Our musical output hasn't been the same ever since the Beatles took on the influences of Chuck Berry and other American blues musicians. What was wrong with Noel Coward, Vera Lynn and the Lambeth Walk? We want British music back!
And has anyone else noticed how subdued our New Year's Eve celebrations have become now that the Chinese new year is recognised on these shores?
Some people will tell you that churches are being closed down because people aren't going to church anymore. But falling church attendances are clearly the fault of Islam. Clearly!
Honestly, Britain today. People don't even salute the flag every morning anymore.

Cultures evolve.
Did British people do the same things in 1650 as they did in 1550? Probably not.
Is that because of immigration? No, it's because fashions and tastes change. New trends emerge. Societies are exposed to new experiences and they like some of them. Others don't catch on.
There's no dilution to worry about. If people wanted to have a street party on the Queen's Birthday or tune in to Trooping of the colour or eat toad-in-the-hole, they would.
If in 50 years, people aren't doing that, it won't be the fault of Bollywood or Moroccan restaurants or rap music. It's because the merits of these precious parts of our heritage didn't resonate with people any more. In the same way that, people stopped drawing on the inside of caves when they invented paper.
If people decide they'd prefer a salsa class followed by a kebab than bell-ringing followed by a Cornish pasty, more power to them.
Traditions, religions and movements don't die out because people are denied the opportunity to practice them any more. They die out because they cease to be popular.

glad to be back to normal - disagreeing
I experience lots of people with good manners. Just today in my office a young man of 17 played beautifully with a toddler, this was a young man who had experienced a terrible life, didn't know the small child, but was just really friendly and careful.
