If her daughter died from circumsion that is terrible but as she is clearly over the age when this procedure would be done (and I assume she was circumcised) I can't see how that is relevant.

Not sure what the point of your posting is. Are you saying that because her documents are false she should be sent back?

if she had a valid reason I am sure she would have the papers. I reckon she should be returned. Given the state of the Irish economy we can not afford to support all foreigners wishing to live here.

Not all of the documents are forged and it isn't her who has forged them. I understand that it was her husband and she didn't know they were forged.

She is not wanting to return and says one of the reasons is she doesn't want her 2 small daughters to be circumcised.

Not all her documents were forged just a couple and I understand her husband forged them as he was unable to obtain the genuine ones and she didn't know they were forged. The courts have accepted that the first child has died as a result of this procedure. The in laws have tried on numerous occasions to have the circumsion carried out and their father was injured when he tried to stop them.

She doesn't want to return as she is frightened of her two young daughters being forcibly cicrcumcised which is what her in laws want. Even the president of Nigeria has said the practice is widespread although it is opposed by parliament.

If they return there is no doubt in my mind that the girls will be subjected to this torture. The in laws consider it needs to be done for family honour.

Who would condem to young girls to this torture?
Surely it is a form of sexual abuse?

So what's she a refugee from then? Is she a political refugee as we have always understood the term? In that case she should go to the nearest friendly country. That would be in Africa where at least she would fit in, which I'm sure she doesn't in an Irish High Street. Why then has she decided to undertake a journey of thousands of miles across Africa and Europe - bypassing Greece, Spain, France etc. - to land herself in Ireland of all places?

If this woman is just an 'economic refugee' then do the good people of Ireland really want someone like this competing with them and their children for their jobs and housing, taking their benefit money, taking child benefit, using the Irish health and education system etc.,etc. - all at the expense of the Irish taxpayer? Then perhaps this woman's a highly trained professional ready to contribute a unique service to the Irish economy and state? I don't think so.

Cut your losses Ireland. Pay her costs and send her home.

Female circumcision is a barbaric practise and can be classified as a form of torture. I wouldn't want this done to anyone I know and have sympathy for her plight. However, I am also bemused why so many asylum seekers pass through so many 'safe' countries to get to Britain or Ireland. The freedoms we enjoy and the benefit systems probably play a big part in these decisions.
