So Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has arrived in Rome for the beatification of the late Pope John Paul II.
How many people does someone have to have killed before the church decides they are not welcome ?

LUKE 15:7
There is more joy in Heaven over one sinner who repents...
Religion itself is responsible for millions of deaths/murders through history, and this "God" has condoned and permitted it for all this time, why would it suddenly stop now!?
sandy you dont honestly think he will repent do you?
There's already a 'Catholic Bashing' thread in news. Maybe you should join in that...
I agree with samak. I hate the Catholic church total hypocrites in my book.
No. I don't. BUt there's no harm stirring up a bit of controversy

ummmm. Thanks for letting me know there was another thread on this topic.
It is beyond me how any organisation that claims moral and spiritual authority could even think this was a good idea. Even if they don't care about those he's killed, surely they must realise it's bad PR. Or maybe they are so far removed from reality that they don't.

Eddie,
An EU travel ban forbids him from visiting member states but the Vatican, where the ceremony will take place, is a sovereign state and not in the EU. He has been allowed to transit through Italy.
God knows why.

Mugabe is a lunatic and a monster. It is disgraceful that he can get away with this. I was under the impression that he was suffering from cancer and not long to live.
The Catholic church likes to think it is above international law.

Eddie, it's not the first time. Italy's foreign ministry said it had requested an exemption from the EU travel ban for Mr Mugabe.
So it seems Italy is being as hypocritical as the Vatican.
Cant say i agree on his invite however i am catholic and extremely proud of it too. I hate seeing the church bashed all the time. Its old now! But as i say, the guys a loony gid knows why hes there!!! Forgiveness & all that.... Not tht i condobe it, i dont x

I think so.
"This sprint to sainthood is to deflect examinations into JPII's unedifying record on clerical child abuse - and, with it, Benedict's own role," said Keith Porteous Wood of Britain's National Secular Society.
EDDIE51, I reckon there's another record to come. All they need now is to find another nun to claim that her ingrowing toenail was cured by the dead JPII and he can be canonised at any time.
I really do find it very difficult to believe that grown-up human beings believe in such arrant nonsense. Truly, religion doth addle the mind.
I think the RC church gives god a bad name
