I have a bet almost every day, all stakes i can afford to lose and have never gambles MORE than i can afford to lose. There is a wise old saying; You can make a small fortune from gambling, providing you begin with a large fortune.
I was just going to ask a question on here, along the lines of " how do BIG gamblers cope with anxiety?" I've just won £400 on the first two races at Cheltenham. Yippee, well done me, BUT they say on TV a punter has had £60,000 on this horse, £50,000 on that horse. I know my heart couldn't take it after what it's been through this past hour.
I too have a WH account. I put £10 on it about every 3 months. I do not do the lottery but have a bet each weekend plus cheltenham week and the aintree festival.
I put a bet on this morning for 20p for 4 races. 3 have won. 1 to go. Will only win £2.70 but that is a good return for 20p. Also done a lucky 15 costing £3.00 2 horses placed with one to go. Probably get my money back.
But when the racing is on the telly it is better than watching 6 balls come out of a machine.
I originally put £10 on my ladbrokes account about a year ago. I'm down to about 50p balance. Won some, lost more, but I do have fun with small (sometimes silly) bets.
I enjoy watching National Hunt racing live when possible if not C4. (not flat to me boring) today has been another display of the best in this field.
I have a bet every week for ridiculous amounts that is not going to make me rich. I do go out quite often on Sunday's for lunch with the winnings though.
What always annoys me is people who do the lottery (and put far more on that each week than I do on racing) do not seem to think they are gambling.
The hot favourite has just fallen at the last hurdle, when well clear. The commentator said, in the build up, that someone had put £120,000 on to win £ 100,000. Now, I like a bet, but surely that's a case of more money than sense.
