I have never heard Claire Balding actually commentate on anything, Emmie. I've seen her present many a sports programme, setting the scene, so to speak, then interviewing competitors afterwards. And, at that, she is very professional - with the exception of one well publicised below-the-belt comment.

Baz, she interviewed jockey Liam Treadwell immediately after he had steered Mon Mome to victory @ 100/1 in the 2009 Grand National. The rider's dental work left a lot to be desired and she coaxed him into smiling for the camera before suggesting that he could use his winnings to have his teeth fixed. A needless comment and one which drew lots of flak.

An Irish Cup game had all three female officials last season.
It’s just the Champions League catching up ... :-)

As for lady refs? Absolutely no issue. Can't imagine why anyone would think there would be.
