How do I open a pdf file in Word?

As part of my course, I have a DVD/CD. I like to print off the transcripts rather than listening to it all on line. But all the files are pdf and I cannot work out how to get them into Word.

If they are PDF you can print them. Can i ask why you want them in Word?

Get a copy of Adobe reader here: http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/
You can either print from there or copy and paste it into Word.

Perhaps I should have explained further.
Once you have downloaded and installed Adobe Reader the pdf files will open in it.
You can print the files from Adobe or, if you prefer, copy and paste them into Word. Once in Word you will be able to edit them. You can't in the free Adobe Reader.

Hi Graham- are you sure you can simply copy them into Word and edit them. I've never done it

You can copy and paste the words into word, you may not get anything like pictures and it will lose all the formatting when you do it.

Also, don't bother with adobe reader, it's far too bloated for what it does, foxit reader is much smaller, faster and better.

Yes. It works fine and as I said, you can edit the file, change font etc. too

I open in .pdf then Save as.... Word.

If all the OP wants to do is print them what's the point of putting them in word :)

Also, if they are hand written transcripts that have been scanned they certainly won't be able to copy them into word.

Adobe reader has a built in converter. Open the pdf then save as...choose Word or Excel online.

I have Adobe. I did read it was not a sgood as others.
But when I get PDFs they seem to be protected and I don't get the option to save as a Word type doc. I know when we needed to do it at work last year it proved to be very difficult for our IT expert who ended up retyping- but maybe that was because it included images or maths symbols.
Anyway, I'll have a play later in the week.

Hi chuck- that's what i thought. I was under the impression that I'd have to pay for something to allow me to convert to Word as it doesn't seem to be part of my Adobe which is only Adobe Reader. Even at work we didn't have Acrobat in our team. Anyway, is it free in Foxit?

No, the foxit pdf editor is pay for too, although not as much as the adobe one.
