In a new survey of 2,200 UK adults, 44% said they would wash their towels after three months or more.

Three months or more?!!! Those towels must run to the washing machine and leap in with a sign of relief! Are people really that grimey?

mine after every use, he washes his every week
about every 5 days - adding it to make up a load, next one tomorrow.
Usually after using a couple of times.
If people are grimy after a bath or shower they're missing a vital component of the operation.

I do mine every few days.

RH, you and your husband each do your own washing? Really? Why?
It suits us - I only wear my clothes once so they go on quick washes - he wears his more and prefers longer washes.
At least weekly, more often if They will fit in with a wash load,
The argument I have heard is the person is clean when they get out of the bath/shower so how can the towels get dirty... My reply to this is dead skin and damp are very good bacteria food.
Every couple of days.
Can't believe that some people would leave them for 3 months.
I can imagine the towels walking by themselves to the washing machine, after all that time! :-)
naomi, please tell me this is a joke.

I feel like having a shower now after reading your post.

Wonder how many of them use flannels? I remove most of the dampness following a shower with a (clean) flannel and therefore dry myself with a (clean) hand towel, saving some load on the washing machine.

Just wondered how often those same people wash tea towels etc?

My routine here is at the close of play, when all the washing up has been done (NB I am the dish washer!) tea towel and kitchen hand towel are straight into the washing machine and replaced afresh for the next day.

I know what you mean, choux. I wonder how often they change their bed linen?
I wash mine after every third use. On the two previous occasions they go into the tumble dryer, this deals with dampness and dead skin. They come out of the t/d smelling fresh and feeling soft. Too much washing makes them thin and that makes them harder to dry with.
naomi ;)

Well three months is fine if they only bathe or shower once a month, surely?!
This is a joke yes!?? I wash mine twice a week!
Hells bells! That is 968 people. Imagine, one might be a neighbour :(
I do mine weekly.
3 months??
Jeeeez ..... some people are mingers !!

We have 4 towels and 2 flannels.
2 towels and 1 flannel are always out in the bathroom. When they need washing, which is after around 4 to 5 days, the other 2 towels and flannel come out and the newly washed ones are put away ..... ad infinitum :)
Flannels? Ugh!
//// Flannels? Ugh! ////

They're more for show than anything else - they came as part of the towel set :)
Flannels are only good for growing cress on, I think we did it at primary school!

Ministry of Food War Cookery Leaflet Number 14:

Grow your own! Even if you have no garden, you can have fresh-picked parsley or mustard and cress, for these both grow well in window-boxes or flower-pots. Or mustard and cress can be grown on damp flannel. Remember--the fresher the better for you--and the better the flavor!
