Car parking in Devon
5 Answers
Been to Devon for the weekend. Went to Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. All parking £5 anywhere within sight of the beach. Managed to park near harbour at Ilfracombe £2. No conessions for disabled anywhere even in town centre car parks.
Should have come back tomorrow but had enough of the weather. Long journey home, traffic jams, road works, took almost 6 hours with a 20 min stop at service area. Going it took us 3.5 hours including a stop. Mind OH did get us lost round Bristol again and added quite a bit of time to journey, missed the turning for Chepstow and the bridge and had to come through Gloucester, torrential rain not a good journey.
Decided to go out for a meal tonight to a new restaurant that has just opened locally, when we got there it was shut on Mondays, had a takeaway instead. Glad to be home.

I think that has changed now but the council still has the "screw the tourists" mentality. That is a very short-sighted mentality and it serves the council right if the tourists vote with their feet and go elsewhere.
Count yourself a little lucky carandrog.
Brighton Council have just increased their seafront parking fees to
1 hour £3.50, 2 hours £6.00, 4 hours £10.00, 11 hours £20.00 Summertime
The same spaces are reduced in the winter to £1.00, £2.00, £ 3.00 & £5.00
I actually live 30 miles from there - so don't go very often and even less now. But still feel its cash-cow for the council. Local traders say its ruining them. I cannot see if there are reductions for disabled on their web-site

It was such a shame really, where we parked by the harbour was too far for me to walk to the beach in Ilfracombe but then again you have to pay to go on the beach via the tunnel. We couldn't see another way onto the beach, but then again we might not have looked in the right place. We did the same trip a few years ago and things were just the same then but we thought (hoped) things might have changed.
Isn't it nice to go exploring our beautiful country?
Better not tell the Government you've been straying away from home, cd, they'll be charging you for the extra fresh air you had, next
I've just been listening to 'Albatross' on YouTube. I know you're a fan as well. At least that's free!!!!!!!!!
