2 Nights Away Without The Kids

For my birthday my hubby has said he will take me away for a couple of nights without the kids. Any suggestions? I'm open to all from Britain to abroad. We would be flying from Glasgow if its abroad.

Paris -its easy to get around on the Metro as everything is quite close together. There are shows to see on an evening, sightseeing in the day, a boat trip down the Seine, a bus trip to Versailles. oh and..Shopping!!

Barcelona or Paris. But if going from Glasgow would be tempted to look at Orkney went years ago and would love to go back.

what's you budget a night, - there's a wonderful hotel 60 miles south of Dublin, Marlfield House at Gorey........

Down here in Devon and Cornwall (and cheaper) places like the Nobody Inn on the edge of Exmoor and 7 miles from Exeter (12 from the airport) or the Lewrenchard Hotel, near Okehampton....

That time of year I'd definitely second Barcelona, a beach city that has everything. The weather should be good too.

I wouldn't travel too far for a couple of nights away. Find a nearby spa hotel to pamper yourselves, enjoy a couple of meals and a few bottles of wine, and spend time together.

We really enjoyed Prague, lots to do and see and still relatively cheap. Going to Budapest in May which has been highly recommended by a couple of friends of ours.

I think I agree with AlwaysConfused. Going to a foreign city for a couple of nights will be tiring. I'd go to a spa or countyside inn and save your energy for.....well, whatever you want.

I see that Prague is suggested above. It's also a great destination. However Wizzair no longer operate on that route from Glasgow. Jet2 fly to Prague but they only fly on Thursdays and Sundays, so you'd have to make it a 3-night break.

Were it me, I'd not want to spend more than an hour or two on a plane for just a couple of days away. What about Amsterdam? Easyjet fly there from Glasgow four times a week.

^^^Amsterdam is indeed worth considering. It's got a very compact city centre, so that you can walk to most of the main touristy places. It's also only just a short hop on the train to the coast.

If you have got the weekend why not take advantage of going local and doing away the chances of delays and cancellations.

I stayed near the Port Olympic, round the marina there are lots of restaurants and bars, you haven't got the hustle and bustle of La Ramblas. Walking into the main tourist city bit took about 15 minutes if I remember rightly.

Florence is lovely at that time of the year.
