Gully And Other Intenrational Socialists/The Hard Left To Accept This

A report in the Sunday Tel that the RMT have reverted to 'extreme' capatalism.
1. The RMT, Unison and Unite bribing workers to strike, effectively doubling their pay.
2. RMT has a war chest of £100 thousands of BP and RDShell shares - part of £22 mln that they hold.
3. Money invested in Melrose that oversaw the break-up of GKN
4. £120k invested in Man, a hedge fun in Lloyds and HSBC while campaigning for the banks' brea-up.
5. Investments in Diageo, Astra Z abd GlaxoSmithKline that have made £5 mln.
6. Mike Lynch awarded pay of £163k....yet the union has criticised others and the Rail industry fpr investor payouts.... "It's time to cut out those greedy middlemen and bring the whole of the railway into public hands." Tell me......
Bloody hypocrites that the three rail unions are......and Arthur et al would be turning in his grave, if they were any different - yet Gully et al who have leftwing/communist sympathies have remained very quiet over this - but, then, should we be surprised?

There are lots of other measures that could be considered.
With all the assets that the RMT hold, I would expect them to support the strikers with strike pay. I haven't seen any mention of this anywhere so far.
The fact that the RMT holds these assets, doesn't mean they are wrong to point out injustices for their members. Or, what they see as injustices.

Investment of members' funds is always a difficult issue for trade unions. We don't know when the above mentioned shares were purchased. I'm not making excuses for them but I haven't actually seen the list of concerns that the union has put to management, although we have seen ML making comments on the news bulletins. As I said, I don't advocate strike action. There are other ways to sort this and this is where ML should REALLY earn his money and obtain a satisfactory resolution without withdrawing labour.
No idea what any of that above gibberish is about.
The Sunday Telegraph is an anachronism. It is on another reality plane. One flying in 1957.
The Government are trying to pitch this like 1984. Thatcher v the Coalminers. Scargill was totally out manoeuvred then and beaten.
But this is totally different. If someone cannot visit their auntie Ethel in Cleethorpes, then the country isn’t damaged, just inconvenienced.
Don’t really understand the point of these rail strikes.

the RMT are operating in a capitalist system, so they behave like capitalists. I can't see a problem there. Capitalism benefits them - since privatisation they can register their discontent by working for a rival company, which wasn't possible under a national state-owned system. And they're as entitled as anyone else to get the best out of capitalism - that's what capitalism is for.

DTCwordfan, I have been trying unsuccessfully to find this, can you provide a Link please ?
"1. The RMT, Unison and Unite bribing workers to strike, effectively doubling their pay." ... and a Link to that one also.
£70 a day strike pay is less than one pound per hour more than the current UK minimum wage.

Quite so. But if vital bulk freight cannot be moved (such as the “biomass” which Drax power station consumes, 100% of which is delivered by rail)…..?
//the RMT are operating in a capitalist system, so they behave like capitalists. I can't see a problem there.//
Except that they have, as one of their objectives, the replacement of the capitalist system by (what amounts to) Communism.

This strike has obviously been fostered by the Employers as a smoke screen to deflect attention from bungling Boris.
And I wonder how many of the Extreme Right accusing the Left of hypocrisy, themselves freely exploit the NHS, State Pensions, Paid Holidays, 5-day week, and other facilities engineered by the Labour Party.

What do you mean by "exploit"? The NHS consumes more than 10% of all the money spent by the government. All of this comes either from taxpayers or it is borrowed and the loan serviced by taxpayers. And for that those paying for it get a service that is an absolute shambles. Far from exploiting it, they are paying for something that costs a fortune and serves them very poorly. For 10% of their tax and NI deductions many people would be able to purchase quite a good private health insurance scheme.
Many people have fully funded their State Pensions by paying income tax and National Insurance throughout their working lives. Those who have not are not in receipt of a pension but receive retirement age benefits.

No, not like that at all. They have a far broader objective (or "object" as they like to call it) not restricted to railways or other forms of transport at all:

Rule 4(b):
"to work for the supersession of the capitalist system by a socialistic order of society;"
