Travelling to the USA

I got a bit of a dilemma & could do with some opinions. There seem to be some knowledgeable people on here. I have a 11 year old conviction for drink driving which is no longer on my license.
I foolishly sent my passport along with non-immigrant visa application down to the embassy in London having mis-read instructions on their web site. It was promptly sent back to me in days saying I need to go to London for interview. Its a new machine readable passport. What are my chances of getting thru if I tick all the no boxes the plane?

That being the case I am more than a little concerned that my passport no. could be on there computer & may flag me up when I enter their borders. I have only got an hour & a half to change planes for my connecting flight so the last thing I need is a drilling from the immigration people
