I have ignored the messages that flash up telling me to update my Samsung Note 3. Now I want to. I've seen on YouTube how to. Should I or doesn't it matter if I update or not? Is there any real advantage or disadvantage?

In that case, at a guess it's an update to Android 5 (Lollipop). Lollipop is a considerable improvement over Android 4.
