Starting from scratch, is it possible to make a rice pudding in a microwave oven? Ta Muchly.

Yes, it is (I haven't though). But it takes quite a long time according to my recipe book. For 2oz rice and 1 pint milk and 1oz sugar...it's 4 mins on full power, then half power for 20-25 mins, then stand for 5-10mins.
It is Woodelf, but I wouldn't recommend it. It bubbles over quickly throughout the cooking time, you have to keep watch over it and stir it frequently.

My mother used to make the most delicious rice pud on Mondays (wash day) and I've never been able to make it like she did. I think the secret is long, slow cooking on about mark 1 or 1.5. (Don't know what the equivalent is for electric). So perhaps you can't get the equivalent in a microwave, sorry I'm not much help, but you've given me the urge to try again so I might have a go next week.
You must use pudding rice, though, not any other type.
