Ni I thought you had your irony claxon on when you said the Egyptians are arabs
they say they arent
big big argument about did the arab hordes replace the then current population ( like the Romans and Anglosaxons displaced the ancient britons) or did they conquer them and convert them
There is quite a lot of genetic variation between the named populations
I'll restate the point I failed to make: the problem is not Arabic, it's Islamic.
Now I'm having trouble understanding the point being made here by Peter:
"the fact that there are zillions of pink anglos who all think that there more arabs out there all walking thro the tunnel to have their evil way with underage British schoolgirls is part of the problem and not the solution".
What was intended as a smart-**** put-down of a vile ideology came out as an offensive slur. I apologise unreservedly to any Muslim, especially a parent, who read it.
V.E.
I am sure the more mature amongst us will realise it wasn't suggested as an offensive slur. Only those who look for offence where non is intended and have a hair trigger on the "Report" button ! :-)
It's really Dawkins' fault. My original mental draft of the attempted epigram was "...but being born a Muslim...". Then I recalled Dawkin's comment that people aren't born Christians, Muslims or anything else, so I changed the wording. If I had rephrased it as "...born in an Islamic society" my insult would have remained directed at its intended target - the ideology.
