I posted a Q about divorce, and it reminded me why son 2 never went through with it 5 years ago.
It seems from what the solicitor told him at the time.... it's ok for gay people to marry in law, yet infidelity with a same sex partner is not grounds for divorce. (Son's wife went off with another woman.)
Strikes me as very unbalanced behaviour on the law's part.

I didn't think you needed grounds for divorce anymore?

Have a peep at the link on my other post.
blame went out about 40 y ago - 1967 law reform I think
Golly they had fun before that !

grounds for divorce is irretrievable break down

The marriage didnt work out - the parties have to move on with their lives

The then Athbishop of Canterbury did not oppose reforms for the latest bout on the grounds that all FIVE of his children were divorced.... cant remember which one it was . Benson ( another atchbishop ) had five kids NONE of whom married .

He could have divorced her on grounds of unreasonable behaviour 5 years ago - he found her behaviour with the other woman to be so unreasonable that he could never live with her again.

HC, yes he did go along that route some 4 years ago, but he just could not cope with all that went with the divorce, as well as the awful shock he had at her behaviour.
(Well who wouldn't)
Divorce is always very difficult, ferlew. I hope your son is happier now

I think in time the law will change to bring same sex relationships in to adultery. It has to now that same sex marriages are legal - the grounds for divorce must be equal across the board. It would be a strange thing if a married lesbian couldn't divorce her wife on grounds of adultery because she'd had an affair with a woman yet she can if her wife has an affair with a man. An interesting point of law, so thank you for raising it.

It just struck me as odd HC, and maybe a little unfair/unbalanced. :)
