Why Are Some Politicians Accused Of Being 'populist' As If It's A Bad Thing?

Why is it seen as some kind of insult in some quarters? Surely if they are advocating measures that are popular then isn't that what they are supposed to do, act on the will of the people?

Ey? Trump isn't sworn in yet, so how is he able to "deliver" anything? As for believing what they are told. The populist vote didn't believe the luvvies or their lackeys or the pollsters. Despite what they were "told".
