No it didn't. 'Mainstream support' ended in January 2015 but 'extended support' doesn't end until January 2020.
>>> Windows 8.1 is garbage
Agreed!
>>> Windows 10 is excellent
Possibly, but only as long as you've got:
(a) a high enough specified computer (preferably with at least 4Gb of RAM) to run it properly ;
(b) you don't need to replace loads of expensive software in order to use it. (It would cost be many hundreds of pounds to replace the older versions of things like 'full' versions of Photoshop, Quark XPress, etc, that I'm currently running under W7, which won't run under W10) ;
(c) you've not got peripheral devices (such as my film scanner) for which there aren't any W10 drivers ; and
(d) you don't mind having to learn how to disable all of the features (such as automatic updates) in W10 which Microsoft wrongly assumes that everyone wants!

Haha nothing personal then Buen ? As for w0 updates, there are no more than there were with w7 early doors, and a simple toggle set up lets even the most basic user set their own parameters. Is this new set up to be a new PC or laptop Teze or are you thinking of upgrading an existing pc. Do not I, I repeat, do not touch w8 with the proverbial. If you know the tech spec of your current set up, some can advise you of its suitability.

True Murdo. And if you have products purchased to interface with w7, that are not compatible with w10, and they now want to charge you for their new product. Is that a Microsoft issue, or a peripheral company issue? No support or backup from them is not a w10 issue. To outright slate w10 because your old kit is becoming a bit luddite, is not really helpful for people who want their own answer for the present.

Minimum specs Teze You look good to go if you have hard disc space. You can add on in bits and pieces rather than a big early spend. Home edition is fine unless you have business considerations. A good graphics card is a bonus, but that is the case with any operating system.
