Unless you think the abuse of workers during your grandparents' time, and earlier, was acceptable, and we should return there. Unions were, and are, the voice of their working class members, the only power they had against those who only wanted to use them in order to become wealthy.
Unfortunately unions are weak now, which is how the likes of Mike Ashley get away with zero hours contracts and disgaceful rates of pay, especially for the young. They pay a pittance, and the taxpayer ends up paying £millions in working tax credits to people who supposedly have a proper job.
Wouldn’t be surprised at a winter of discontent II with all the gloomy economic news and Universal Credit nonsense.
