I wonder who Teresa will choose to be the next Defence Secretary ?

Boris perhaps ? Or may be a woman ?

But does anyone really believe that Fallon had no choice but to resign, because he touched someones knee, 15 years ago ? I strongly suspect that there is a bomb ticking away somewhere, that will come to the surface within the next day or so

I also have trouble believing Fallon has resigned after one single, minor, historical minor indiscretion. Surely if that were the case May would have been begging (or even ordering) him to stay, rather than putting the defence of the nation in the hands of someone who's never run a department before?

However, nothing else has emerged yet in the several days since his name first came up, so I'm not at all sure anything will. If it does, the media will mention it. If it doesn't, I really don't know why he had to go.

interestingly, the Standard (Editor: Osborne G.) reckons May sacked Fallon because she'd been advised other stories about him were going to come out.

Who advised her? The chief whip - who was then given Fallon's job.
